Winter-Health-Tips-4-Natural-Remedies-for-Common-Ailments

Winter Times Call For Home Remedies

The mornings are now cold, the sun sets early making it dark more hours that it is light. Cuddling under big puffy blankets is part of the fun of cooler weather.  The strong wind makes my eyes tear, but the intensity is also invigorating.  I love the fall! I wish it lasted all winter.

Weeks of colder weather is just around the corner.  Hopefully it will be a wet winter, as we here in Israel depend upon the rain water.  The rainy season is mid-October through March.  After that we don’t see much rain at all.  When it rains, it’s cold.  The kind of cold that lasts for hours and goes into your bones, the cold makes you want to hold a cup of hot tea all afternoon and get under those puffy blankets.

After becoming a mom and sending my kids to day-care, I dreaded the change of season, the sickness that was destined to come. All the germs and congestion.  How do you get little kids to  drink hot tea safely? And when they did get sick, when I brought them back to day-care, it was guarenteed that as soon as we walked in the door, some red-runny nose kid would sneeze their congestion all over us, re-sharing the cold or flu we had just finished with.

I am happy to report that I no longer fear colds and snot.  Not because we now have 4 kids and I resign myself to the fact that a portion of each winter will be dedicated to wiping noses and tending to fevers.  But because we don’t get knocked down the way we used to by colds and flu.  We use therapeutic grade essential oils and we are back on feet almost instantly!  I know that while treating an illness I am simultaneously strenghtening their whole system as well. I know that the oils do not cause harm to their system, no anti-biotic build up or resistance, and no build up in their gut.

Just the other night my husband started to feel run down.  Within an hour he had started to be sick. He was quickly going down hill straight towards that man-flu (if you have or had a husband you know what I mean).  I was already in bed, I heard the groaning of man-flu and a long night ahead so I got out of bed and went downstairs to put together some oils, what we call Flu Bomb.  I handed it to my husband and said ‘sleep well and feel better!’  He applied it to his throat, neck, chest and bottoms of his feet.   I put the diffuser on next to him with a respiratory blend of oils.  When he woke up in the morning, he was fine.

PHEW!  We passed that one without much trouble.

Flu Bomb is AMAZING! And every household should have at least 1! I truly believe that! With healing oils of Lemon, Tea Tree (Melaluca), Oregano and On Guard, you can knock out the pathagens before they really take you down. And if you are already sick, they will get you back on your feet super fast! I used to remain at lower level health for weeks with winter congestion. Not anymore!

Lemon oil is very uplifting and energizing. Antibacterial and disinfectant properties make it a winner in any germ situation.  Works great on sore throats! Powerful way to clean counters and surfaces.

Tea Tree (Melaluca) probably one of the best known oils in the world today for it’s infection fighting properties. Antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anti-parasitic, a must have for every family!

Oregano oil is called ‘nature’s antibiotic’.  It’s strong and power to kill infections, viruses, anti-parasitic and an immune stimulant.  Oregano is super strong, use with caution and always dilute!

On Guard is a blend of oils that fight germs, illnesses and airborne pathogens. You can use it on your body, or diffuse in the air to kill household germs and strengthen your immune system.

When anyone is sick in my house, this is the first oil we put in the diffuser, to nip it fast, and protect everyone else simultaneously. It’s warming smell of orange, clove, cinnamon, rosemary and eucalyptus is loved by most people.

Cheers to a happy and healthy winter ahead!
