Power-Up For Pesach!

Power-Up For Pesach!

What if I told you that using essential oils can help you enjoy cleaning more??!!

What if I told you there is scientific research to back the claims that essential oils can help us to feel happier, more energized, more motivated…?

Would you want to add essential oils to your Pesach preparations?

Can I get a big “Heck yes!”

Well, it’s true people!

Essential oils contain dozens of molecules that carry messages to our brains quickly. These molecules are the chemical constituents of the plants. All natural chemicals, the way nature intended (not the harmful ones we see in cleaning products). These chemical messengers communicate with our brain and our entire body. They impact our emotions and how we feel. By choosing certain essential oils you can have a positive impact on your mood.

Choose your oil, choose your mood!

When I am tired, I do not really want to clean.  The feeling of “I have to…” does not help me.

But when I put a few drops of Peppermint essential oil in my diffuser or my cleaning bucket for energy- it puts a little bounce in my step, gives a real boost. A few drops of Lemon essential oil in the diffuser says, ‘sunshine in a bottle’.  Lemon essential oil helps clarify thoughts and helps one to feel more joyous.

Putting a few drops of energizing, positive essential oils into my cleaning spray can keep me going through the afternoon energy slump.  As a mom, who runs my own business, mornings are for work, afternoons are Pesach cleaning time.  So instead of the afternoon coffee I can lean in on the Peppermint oil to energize my afternoons.

As an allergy sufferer, cleaning for Pesach, when my system is already in histamine overload because it is Spring and EVERYTHING is in bloom makes it even more difficult.  And then we add the dust- Oh the dust!

The good news is that I have discovered an amazing trio of oils to combat allergies.

My favorite cleaning solution is Peppermint, Lavender & Lemon essential oils, in water with a bit of white vinegar. It’s an all-purpose spray that I can clean every surface of my house with.

Lavender oil is a natural antihistamine, which works fast and doesn’t dry me up too much or make me tired like over the counter allergy meds.

I put Lavender, Lemon & Peppermint oils into my diffuser while I clean.  This way I am cleansing the air at the same time and getting a fresh dose of medicine I need.  I put a few drops of Lavender, Lemon & Peppermint into my water to drink.  The Peppermint is very refreshing and cleanses the mouth and throat of any itchy feelings.

If allergies are not your Spring concern (lucky you), I still recommend adding some Peppermint oil to your cleaning routine for energy and positive feelings. Another oil I love for Pesach prep is called Motivate.   It’s cheery and uplifting. The name really says it all!  A swipe or 2 of Motivate on the back of your neck, you are set for a few hours.

The diffuser feels like my couch cheering me on saying “You’ve got this Chana! A little more in that corner and you can hit the showers.”

Stay tuned for more natural Pesach cleaning tips and ideas.

Happy Spring!
